Five for Friday

1. Cathy and I have been braving the cold to go walking on Saturday mornings for the past couple of months. We haven't had to deal with any snow or ice since we haven't had any this winter (so weird!) but it has been really cold so our bundling has been quite comical.

2. I put this photo on Facebook but it bears documentation here as well. What in the world?! These are the shoes of a 7th grade girl (who looks 17)! She brought both pairs to school and wore one of them and then complained about her back hurting! I was flabbergasted by this on so many levels.

3. Randy brought me a medicinal Coke at work on Wednesday when I felt a doozy of a headache coming on, and Landon happened to pop into the office during his lunch break at the very same time! He didn't know Randy was coming, so he was surprised by the little reunion.

4. I picked Whitney up from school the other day and found her wearing this ensemble! Clearly Randy is on the morning shift before school! He thought her outfit was creative and coherent, but for me it was a head shaker for sure.

5. I got a nice thank you note from Amie this week but was surprised by the damage done to it. It looks like a shark got to it! There weren't any protrusions so it's weird that it was damaged in the mail, it must have gotten stuck in one of the machines.

**How was your week?
Thoughts on Whitney's outfit?
Would you wear those heels?**

Comment Window Tidbit: I started another dance class last night and feared I'd be too sore to walk today, but I'm only slightly sore (more aware of my muscles than anything else). I'm very grateful for this!

I love the bits and pieces in this blog post, Jill.

Oh man the girl of the beautiful shoes is going to pay someday. Her poor feet.

Whitney's outfit is funny and it's even funnier that Randy approved it.

Those heel are HIDEOUS! Yikes!

Luci comes up with somes strange outfits too. She likes to wear capri pants in winter which look rather strange peeking out from under a coat when it's cold outside. I try to pick my battles so the only time I put my foot down about clothes is when we are taking pictures or if she's attempting to wear something that totally doesn't match to church.

That is so nice you are able to work at Landon's school. I would love to work at Luci's school or at the retirement community owned by our church which shares property with Luci's school. But so far they aren't looking for a social worker or grant writer. Darn.

wait a minute... did I miss something? dance class?

Whitney's outfit--- she is a KEEPER! I had to have a little talk with Brett about what trent can/cannot wear to school. I'm only gone maybe 1 or 2 mornings a week--- and by golly!??

those heels-- OUCH- NO WAY

It looks waaay too cold to be outside, in spite of the bundling!@

When I taught jr high/high school, I was shocked daily by the outfits (or lack thereof) that girls wore to school. One day a girl wore platform shoes like the ones you posted and her feet were bleeding so badly by the time she came into my class. It was so pathetic.

I actually like Whitney's ensemble, but I'm used to that type of dress: my 5 year old dresses like that except in clashing patterns and terrible shoes and socks. Drives me nuts! But not worth the fight most days.

I love the self-portrait of you and Cathy. But I need to know: do you get hot while you're walking and have to shed the scarf, hat, etc.? Because I would for sure, and then I'd be carrying stuff.

I might have worn those shoes before I got plantar fasciitis. But not in junior high! What outfit accompanied those?

It's pretty adorable that you can even have a family reunion at your work.

Whitney's outfit cracks me up. Today Eva was lobbying hard to wear an outfit that she created on Christmas day by putting on whatever she opened that was clothing. Needless to say, it did not go together at all. "But I wore it before!"

I am dying at those heels too. I wouldn't be able to walk in them now, let alone in 7th grade!

I agree with what Brooke says!

I loved the photo of your daughter's outfit. She looks too cute. But I laughed and laughed when I read your comments because my future flashed before my eyes. My husband is an artist and already my baby girl has worn some shady outfits while on his watch! I can only imagine how he'll encourage her when she can dress herself.

Those shoes are seriously ridiculous! Who buys their teenage daughter those?

Whitney's outfit is right in line with something Livy would put together. Randy's comment is comical.

Sooo glad the week is over and I will be even more glad when next week is over. Ash is in the jr high play and it is over taking our lives. Next week is the performances and then it will all be over!

I was going to heavily mock those shoes, and then I remembered that I had a pair of shoes like that, though all black, that I wore to school one day. My mother later made me throw them away. I guess junior high is the time of life for serious fashion faux pas. Ahem.
