Five for Friday

1. The mother of a student at the junior brought this box of Dipidee Cupcakes  to the office staff to say thanks for being so nice to her! She calls multiple times a day to help keep up with her daughter's work (she was out for a long time because of a surgery). Though this was unnecessary, it was definitely a thoughtful gesture and kind thing to do. I have a much greater appreciation for school office staff now that I am one of them!

2. Adam and Amy have been coming over weekly to play Dominion, I think we're all addicted to this game right now.

3. I was all excited to find Landon reading in the cozy the other day, but it turns out he was playing a game on the iTouch!

4. One of my co-workers gave me a bulb kit for Christmas and it has been so amazing to watch it grow. I love see its progress each day.

5. Now that Randy is unemployed, I have been referring to him as a man of leisure. He has actually been doing a lot of free lance work and projects, but it cracks me up to think of him this way. Michelle was asking me if he had turned into a "groove buster" (as in times past) but I'm happy to report that since I'm at work all day I have no groove to bust! He has been very helpful and just yesterday did 3 loads of laundry, made lasagna for dinner, went to the Pinewood Derby for his calling, then came home and made a chocolate bundt cake for me to take to work today since I had a migraine!

**How was your week?
Did you force any bulbs this winter?
Have you thanked your school's office staff?**

Comment Window Tidbit: I had to miss dance last night because of my migraine! I hate it that I was useless from 3:30 on yesterday!

so sorry about the migraine- ouch

hooray for RAndy! wow

I haven't thanked the office staff & need to- they are wonderful.
I did send Christmas candy bars to the elementary staff- they help out trent so much, love them all.

I always wish I would have forced bulbs... sigh I did plant a bunch this year though.
I hope the migraine is GONE!

Your man of leisure is one productive one! I'm glad he's getting some freelance work.

I've got some bulbs growing as we speak -- paperwhites.

Sorry to hear about your debilitating migraine.

My week has been great. Thank you for asking.

Hmmmmm. I thank and take things to our secretarial staff frequently. Does that count?

Since all the kids and grandkids were coming home for Christmas this year-I went all out. Things turned out just wonderful. Even my amarylis and paperwhites bloomed on time.

I'm sorry for your family that Randy is unemployed but how nice to have him home to help with all those things. We all need that at times, I know I often feel like there isn't enough of me to go around!

Griffin's office staff is rude and nasty so I don't reward that. Luci's is fabulous so I have sent in treats twice this school year. Once it was sweets and once it was fun little office supplies. About a month ago I stopped by our favorite bakery and got cookies for our pediatrician's office staff and they were so touched they mailed us a thank you note. Made me realize I should have done that more these past 11 years of having kids!

This week has been a bust for me. I enjoyed having Monday off for MLK and didn't want to face the fact that I had to work the rest of the week.

It sounds kind of nice to have Randy around to get things done and take up the slack. But man of leisure cracks me up as well.

I always wish I had thought ahead to force bulbs. Kind of like I always wish I had planted more in the fall. Someday.

I should really do more for the office staff. Those cupcakes are so nice!

I hope you feel so much better today.

Sorry about your migraine! Not fun!

I had no idea that Randy was out of work. I'm sorry! Glad that he is able to do freelance. Sounds to me that he is accomplishing much while at home - perhaps he will hire out?! HA!

I have had a hard transition since my move. The office staff at our previous school was AMAZING. Knew everyone - cried when we left. Loved them! Here, I find that I am taking treats as bribes. They are GRUMPY all the time. Sad.

Hope you have a good migraine free weekend

I hope your migraine is gone! Those are miserable. I just learned a yoga position that is supposed to get rid of migraines.

I am so glad the week is over. That is all I can say.

I have thanked our school office staff before. I think they are the ones who have the thankless job.

Hmmmm. I think my week was ok. They pass so quickly.

I had that same bulb/flower last year. I love it. It is beautiful when it blooms and I couldn't believe the change day to day.

I am not especially grateful to our school's office staff, so no. I should try harder to do nice things like that though.

Sad to hear you had a migraine. I suffer from them, too, and hate the way they can TOTALLY disrupt your day. How often do you get them? What do you do to make them go away?

Sorry to hear about Randy, but glad that you are putting him to good use! ;-)

Those cupcakes looked delish! I am sorry for the return of the migraines! Are you getting any insurance through your job? I didn't know that Randy had lost his job. I am really sorry Jill. What a blessing that you've got yours and he can kind of be a Mr. Mom for a bit. It will make him appreciate you all the more.
Take good care of you!

PS, I have to call the office a few times a week to say if Evie is riding the bus or not and who is picking her up (me or the sitter) be cause I worn on-call, I think I will bring them a treat next week!)

The cupcakes...amazing!

I love amaryllis. It's something my mom use to give me every year. (When I wasn't moving so much.)

I've never made a bundt cake..go Randy!

It's sad to say that I haven't ever put much thought into the school staff unless I have needed them, and then I was very thankful for their help.

Good Luck with the migraine, my husband has been doing chiropractic for his and he says it's beeter than meds.

Every time I see those cupcake liners I think of those old, paper sacrament cups.

Ah, unemployed?! Crud.
