We combined efforts to provide a scrumptious birthday dinner for all of us. Michelle brought her homemade grape juice, Jana brought fabulous rolls, I brought a salad, and Amy made Martha Stewart's beef stew (Collette made dessert).
It was so good!
Jenn's family had just returned from a 10 day vacation at Disney-world so she was kind enough to bring us all some souvenirs.
Amy gave us a little lesson on The Red Headed Hostess' scripture marking and journal methods because she has been using them and loves it! Michelle and I were particularly riveted because we have been planning on doing this too.
We discussed this month's book (don't judge it by the cheesy cover) and all really liked it.
Ah dessert!
Apparently I didn't take a picture of Jenn opening her $100 Mall Gift Card, but that's what we gave her.
It was a good night, but I really can't take staying up until 11:40! I had already stayed up until midnight the night before in order to finish the book (my fault), but then to stay up late a 2nd night in the row did me in. I was out of sorts the rest of the week and really struggled at work. I just can't do that. We're starting our gatherings earlier (6:30) but they're still going late, so I'm going to have to give myself a curfew. This makes me feel old, but when I end up feeling terrible it affects a lot of people so I need to be smart about it.
**Have you read this book?
How much sleep do you need each night?**

I haven't read that book yet... and I'd love to get my hands on that dessert. :)
I know what you mean about lack of sleep. After suffering from a minor migraine yesterday I finally got some sleep. I had a total of 9 hrs. sleep in two days. All is better this morning.
What is that dessert? I think I need the recipe.
I totally hear you on the sleep issue. I have to have at least 8 hours or I am a bear and I get headaches. Jason and I have started doing a curfew like and we try to be in bed at the latest by 10. Jason leaves for work at 6:30 and I like getting up with him so that I can be up with the 2 oldest before they go to school.
Seriously, I need that recipe.
I haven't read that book but I am on my 10th book for January, truly a personal record!
I feel like I am always the 1st to leave book club or any weeknight gathering. I stay up past midnight at home often but I find if I am out and about late then when I do get home I have an even more difficult time settling down.
I seem to suffer more for not getting enough sleep the older I get. I think it's just plain smart to give yourself a curfew if it helps to ensure good functioning the next day (and week)!
I wish I had some of that stew and rolls and juice right now...
so guess what, my friend and i were discussing how we wanted to start a book club. we both were talking about how we each read blogs of people who have great book groups and it's so cool. well she reads michelle and i read you both. we didn't know we were talking about the same people!
i can't stay up late anymore either. i really need my sleep and if i don't i'm a cranky pants.
I used to be able to get by on like 4-5 hours a night. Now I realy need 8-9 or I feel like trash. I don't know what the deal is!
I haven't read that book, but I may have to.
That's a good thing to know about yourself -- your sleep versus cranky ratio.
I haven't read that book. I'm reading a student's unpublished novel right now.
I need more sleep a night than I'm getting but am still functioning pretty well. Some days crankier than others.
I have read that book, I liked it too.
I totally get the sleep/curfew thing-- usually I can't stay up- I just drop.
So unusual for me, I guess that's what a grown up job & schedule will do to ya?
I have not read the book-
you guys have so much fun, I DON'T blame you one bit for staying up too late!!!!
I haven't read that book... is it my book club recommendable?
I still don't need much sleep, but I like it more and more.
I hope you are ok.... I'm sad you are getting headaches again!
I have not heard of that book. I need a new book to read.
I need a lot of sleep. Between 7 and 8 hours a night (mostly 8) I can tell a huge difference in how I feel and how I function. I really really wish I didn't need so much. I have always had to give myself a curfew. Even in high school and college. I was always the first one to leave :( Still am.
That food looks delicious!!!
I need a lot more sleep than Kenny does to function. He makes fun of me but I know myself and if I don't get it then I am in trouble. I've found that I pay for it all week when I use to be able to bounce back much quicker.
I've had nights lately where I've stayed up until 2 am messing around. Then I finally get in bed and toss and turn for 45 minutes. 2 hours of sleep really isn't enough, shockingly.
