Odds and Ends

Apparently I don't blog with much regularity anymore, is there such a thing as blog fiber (comments perhaps)? Here I am again with another miscellaneous post.

A couple weeks ago I was informed by a kind driver,  who followed me,that I had a flat tire (this was just as I was returning the the junior high to take Whitney to band). I tried to change the tire myself but couldn't even get the plastic plate that covers the lugnuts off! I called Randy to come help me, but before he got there a nice man came over to help me. He did the entire thing (which wasn't easy) and then went on his way. We were so grateful! We ended up having to go buy 2 new rear tires ($306!) and a gift card to 5 Guys for the man (who had told me he was the set designer for a play being held at the school). This is what I wrote on the gift card, which I gave to some woman involved with the play who seemed to know I was talking about when I asked her if she knew "the set guy".

The next day was Friday and I woke up with clogged ears and dizziness (what the?!). I tried to get ready for work but gave up after 45 minutes and called in sick. Michelle had already planned to bring me lunch at work, so she just brought it to my house instead...delightful!

She also returned a couple books and loaned me two new ones, plus brought some tiny truffles and a "J" stamp for me and a "W" stamp for Wendy (since she originally planned on giving me these things at work). So nice.

Last Tuesday, just before leaving work for the Thanksgiving break (yeeha) a mom came in the office to give Wendy and I each a loaf of Pumpkin Bread from Kneaders! It was such a thoughtful thing to do it brought tears to my eyes.

Whitney and I went to D.I. where I scored these 5 books for $5 and Whitney scored two dinosaur toys and a snake toy for $1.75.

I loved having a cute tag at the ready when we were rushing to get out the door to a wedding reception, hooray Creative Friday success!

The kids have gone teenager on me and both have earbuds in very often!

Landon listened to music for the 2.5 hours he spent raking leaves!

Whitney's latest creation.

12 on the 12th--November

  1. I took a screen shot of the time I got up for the day...when will this not feel too early?
  2. Breakfast of champions.
  3. Family scripture reading.
  4. Randy scrapping the ice from my car windows.
  5. Stopping by McDonald's for my morning Coke (it tastes best for breakfast)
  6. Eating lunch while I work (my Coke was long gone by then so I refilled my cup with ice water).
  7. The flag in our front yard for Veteran's Day.
  8. Dropping Whitney off at dance.
  9. I spent a horrific 45 minutes waiting to get fabric cut at Joann's (I need it for a Relief Society service project).
  10. Looking on Pinterest for dinner ideas...not the best thing to do when hungry.
  11. Reading in bed by the glow of my headlight.
  12. I may or may not have been in bed at 7:58pm!

Miscellaneous Phone Photos

The camera on my iphone3 isn't very good, so I don't use it very often but sometimes it's all I've got, here are some shots I found on there.

Back in August, Whitney and I were at Kohl's shopping for earrings for me because I had some birthday money to spend. She came over to show me a pair she thought I'd like and it turned out I was holding the same pair in my hand!

Landon added a "Landon's awesome!" event to my calendar one day so this is the message I saw when the alarm went off.

Hilarious picture of my niece Bella dressed as Napoleon Dynamite for Halloween. Amy texted it to the family and I saved it to show Whitney.

My mom and Whitney were shopping for scriptures and ran into the Young Women's President from our ward. It was sweet that my mom took a picture of them and texted it to me.

The lines for voting on Election Day.

I set the stopwatch on my phone when I got in the line to vote and then stopped it when I finished, not too shabby.

The other day at work I was so busy that I didn't spend much time at my desk and ended up finding two lunch invitations waiting for me when I finally checked my messages a couple hours later! What are the odds that they would ask me on the same day? Apparently pretty good because it has happened twice!

I got high blood pressure watching Landon pack for a Scout campout yesterday. It shouldn't bother me if it doesn't bother him, but man oh man it did!

Leafy Snow

Whitney's Saturday to-do list.

We woke up to a couple inches of snow last Saturday so the kids went outside to take advantage of it. They decided to have a snowball fight but used up most of the snow building their forts, so I don't think the snowball fight actually happened.

Whitney's "fort" didn't get very high.

Landon went full-on igloo with his.

Landon had Whitney turtle-ize him, and yes I had to come outside in my pajamas and flip flops to take this picture.

I almost passed out when the kids posed this way for their photo! It didn't take any  coaxing or anything!

Miscellaneous Monday

1. The lunch art Randy did for Whitney on Halloween.

2. A student I've known since 7th grade (FYI--today is my 2 year anniversary working at the junior high!) who is now in 9th grade gave me this nice note the other day. I don't know what prompted it, but I appreciated it.

3. Whitney outlined our Sunday for us.

4. We went to my parents' new place for dinner yesterday, not surprisingly Whitney was the first one at the table.

Landon and Randy were fine with waiting until it was ready. Is it just me or Landon morphing into a man on a daily basis??

5. Landon warmed up my car for me this morning (it was glorious having the sun up for a change) and left me this message on the windshield.

Mellowest Halloween Ever

The kids are huge. They went trick-or-treating with friends. Randy and I got Chinese Take-Out and watched TV, I was in bed by 9:30. Good times.
