I'm Okay

I didn't mean to not post yesterday, it just kind of worked out that way (I hate that). Here are the details.

I got up at 7:00am spent an hour reading blogs (I'm way behind this week) then spent some quality time cleaning. I scoured the bathrooms, vacuumed the entire house (including couch cushions), did 4 loads of laundry, dusted, and prepared the kids' room (aka the sleeping chamber) for their return. It may seem foolish to do all this cleaning only to have the kids return to destroy it, but it gives me peace of mind and resets my mental health. The nasty smell in the kids' room seems to be gone and this wonderful Tropical Mist carpet stuff smells so good that now the room smells fresh.

Lori came over and we went to California Pizza Kitchen for a scrumptious lunch. After that we ran some errands (XPedx, Barnes and Noble) around there before heading back home to meet my mom with the kids.

We stopped by Sonic for a Route 44 Diet Coke with lime for Lori and a Route 44 cup of ice for me. As we sat there at the menu it reminds us the Sonic commercials on tv, so I had to take pictures.

Me and Lori at Sonic, waiting for our beverages.

The kids came back last night and promptly aggravated the headache I already had. It was 100 degrees yesterday, and I just can't take that kind of heat (I don't know how you Arizona and Texas girls do it). Even though I'd had a 2 day break I felt spent quickly and couldn't wait for bedtime. Luckily Lori stayed and was helpful with the girls because Randy was out for the night and I was struggling.

Today we're setting up the pool. Whitney found the box in the garage the other day and immediately ran in to ask about it. I tried to deflect her inquiries, but she would not be dissuaded. I ended up telling her they had to wait for the weekend. I'm such an idiot. I should have hidden the box better so it would have been a better surprise instead of a disappointment. It has taken all morning to get this going though because Randy had to go to Big Lots to get a battery-operated pump to blow it up. Now they're filling it, but I think it's going to take a long time. It's 100 degrees again though and they're having fun filling it up, so I they don't care.

Adam and Amy called from their cruise this morning and they still don't have their luggage! Poor schmucks, they left on Tuesday morning and are still wearing the same clothes, but at least they made it to their ship and have had two good days of site seeing.

I just have to add this info. I caught about a minute of this guy singing on Jay Leno the other night and fell in love with his music. I checked out his other songs on itunes and ended up buying the entire cd. I haven't stopped listening to it since yesterday. It's fabulous. Are any of you fans?

As I am currently in Utah and enjoying this very delightful cool weather (ha-ha.. it was 100 yesterday? It seriously felt like 85) I too am feeling sorry for the Arizona and Texas girls. I forgot how heavenly the weather is in SLC in June. I was actually freezing on Thursday evening- go figure.

I'm glad you have had a nice refreshing break from the kiddos. I still think you are quite a champ for taking all those additonal kiddos. Amy owes you big time! Poor Amy and Adam- I'm worried my bags will get lost in transit too.

I HATE the heat also. Oh, how I hate it. I don't want to be outside at all. Sorry the pool thing didn't work out as well as you would like. I bought a slip and slide and the kids flooded the yard so now it is in time out till next week to let our grass recover.

Hope you make it though with all the kids. It is always hard to be watching other peoples kids especially for how long you are doing it!

I am glad I'm able to check in for a moment. I still have yet to read about your week, but am so grateful you are doing this. You sounded tired this morning so hopefully with Randy's help you will have a good weekend. I hope you are not regreting the decision! It really wasn't my idea to ask.

Despite the lack of luggage, we were able to get the cloths we have been wearing for 5 days washed after spending a night in our room naked, it has been a great vacation.

So glad you are back - you were missed yesterday.

oh the heat and me don't mix.

the swimming pool is awesome . too bad it is bigger than my entire back yard or i would get it.
fun for them

is that your vaccum? do post and give details about it. i would love to know. mindy had said she wanted one a while ago and i have to use a shop vac in my house to get anything clean, when i do clean.
i love that you took a photo of the sonic sign. it changes so often it would be a fun memory of their promotions.

We have been enjoying Sonic's .99 root beer floats for my kids. Such a great cheap treat.

It has been pretty hot here as well, but luckily it rained last night and my morning run only consisted of 67 degree weather. Nice.

At least you have the pool on your driveway. The minute my kids get tons of grass in their pool they refuse to get into it. I hope you have a smooth sailing afternoon.

Right now I am a boobing mess. Doug leaves tomorrow for 13 days! Yikes.

We just spent the last couple days in Vegas and it was HOT!! I hated every second of it and can't believe I used to live in it.

We went to Sonic while we were there and I loved every second of it.

It's always seems harder when they've been gone for awhile - you forget so quickly. Sorry about the heat and hope your headache has subsided. That pool looks perfect, hope they enjoy and give you a good break.

I remember coming to Utah for EFY, and finding it so unbelieveably hot!
I totally would have done an interim cleaning job with the kids away. I'd rather play 2 steps forward, 1 step back than just let things slide.
I'm totally dependant on other people to introduce me to new music/musicians - somehow that information is just off my radar. I'll have to check this guy out.

The picture of your new vacuum is so pleasing! You know I don't deal well with the heat, so I am not looking forward to coming back to 100 degree weather. I can't even handle the 85 days here! (At least there's A/C at home... I hope the kids play in the pool for hours on end.

I can't believe Adam & Amy still don't have their luggage! What a bummer, I would not function well under those conditions. But at least they're kid-free, right?

Funny that there's another Jim Morrison -- I haven't heard of him and will have to check him out. I am totally dependent on other people to tell me about new music! Crossing my fingers for no more headaches...

Compared to summer here 100 degrees in Utah doesn't sound so bad! It's the humidity that kills me. I hate being wet and sticky. I do remember a few years ago when we had 100+ heat there and it was awful. Hope the pool keeps them happy!

I need a new vacuum so I am really coveting your awesome Dyson. I hate spending money on appliances but I do love a clean vacuumed house so I guess it's worth it.

I also like James Morrison, I think he's from the UK. He has been on some talk shows here too.

Tsk, tsk, yes you should've hidden that box better! I was always stumbling upon mum's weak attempts to hide presents when I was a kid. Glad they were happy enough filling it up, though, even if it seemed to take an age.

The name James Morrison rings a bell, but I don't know him. I'll have to Napster him. What angelic curls he's got, though. Hahaha!
