The beauty of clothespins

That's right, clothespins. They're a beautiful thing, so helpful, such great design, so versatile, and so cheap. I have a fondness for them, and have them all over the house. My mom turned me onto these. She uses them to close bags of chips, cereal, bread, etc. they're the best thing for that. You can get a bag of 100 for like $2. I'm not kidding about their greatness. I don't know about you, but stale cereal is the worst. If you use clothespins you won't have that problem ever again. We have them on every bag of food in our house. I especially like them on the loaves of bread because those little twist-tie things are a pain.

Another use in our house is for creative play by Whitney. She swipes the clothespins constantly and takes them apart to invent things. She's made boats and all sorts of contraptions, I take pictures of some of her crazy set-ups because I'm always so impressed with the randomness and creativity of it. Here are a few examples.

**What's your favorite helpful household item?**

How funny that you say that! I have a little present for you (well I have had it for almost 3 years now...but will be sending it your way!) As for the clothespins....I particularly do not like them since we actually used them to hang clothes....and it was such a pain to have to put the wet clothes outside and then bring them in....Well I used to hand them to my mom one by one...I think I have finally pass that stage...and yes I also like them! But thank you for the tips...I would have never thought of bringing them back to use! Favorite household item...I have to think about that!

Not a clothspin fan....my favorite thing is an ammonia water mixture in an old windex bottle. I spray it constantly and go through close to a bottle a week. I spray it in the kitchen sink several times a day to dissenfect (and everything else). We have all seen those Oprahs where you toilet has less germs than the kitchen sink. I like to scrub it regularly with Comet or Soft Scrub but this is perfect for fast germ killing. I don't even wipe, it leaves no residue, so I just spray and let it do its thing. I don't know if this is my favorite....but definitely high on the list. I will pay more attention....

Hee hee! Love the photos. Love Whitney's creative play. You are getting me excited about clothespins. Think I'll have to go buy some. Do you have a favorite source? Wow, Amie. I'm gonna mix me up a bottle of that, too. I'm not sure, but my favorite household item might just be my "stein" from the women's center that I keep filled with ice water and drink from all day long!

I just don't think the benefits of the ammonia would outweigh the stank of it for me, though I like the idea. Perhaps I could try that with Lemon Lysol cleaner or something else that dissinfects.

The smell is not too strong in such small quantities ( not like the whole buscket full while you mop) and it does come lemon scented which is a little better.
