Highlights from today...
Sleeping in until 8:00am
The kids being totally happy and acting like they're life-long friends with Claudia and her 3 year old Alexei.
Claudia offering to watch the kids, take them swimming for 3 hours, taking them to Burger King and the park so that Randy and I could go to IKEA on our own!
Randy and I braving the California freeways and roads. We can't make heads or tails of the system here. We have no landmarks (i.e., mountains) to help give us direction and feel like we're driving in circles. Thank heaven for MapQuest.
We went to the prettiest Target I've ever seen (I took photos, but won't commit the hour it would take to load them).

We realized we left Whitney's bathing suit (the cute blue one with stars) at our hotel in Las Vegas. I was so irritated with her and thinking how typical it is that she would heap her suit somewhere and not take care of her things, but then I remembered that I had wrung her suit out in a towel so we could pack it and must have left it in the heap of towels we left in the bathroom!! Nice.
Randy and I spent over 2 hours at IKEA. We are seriously fearful for our feet on our day at Disneyland. If only Disneyland had cozy couches all over the place the way IKEA does. We bought new bedding for our bedroom and the kids' room.

We survived the 405 freeway at rush hour, though maneuvering through the carpool lane and other lanes was quite the butt-cheek clenching experience.
Claudia made us a very tasty fettucine alfredo dinner and crepes for dessert (I'm expanding hourly here).
The kids got totally sunburned during their 3 hours at the pool today.
I already need to do laundry.
Tomorrow is our fun day out to Newport to hang with Laurie and Becca at the beach house. I'm so excited about that and still feel like an absolute moron that I emailed half my address book about that today. Duh!
P.S. Blogger spell check brings up the word beautician for the word fettucine.

OOOHHH, IKEA with no kids. I am so jealous!! I wish we had one here.
Enjoy your time at the beach, you deserve it!
I can't wait until we ahve IKEA here! Can't wait! I thought it was hilarious that your email went out to everyone! I got it twice, once at my gmail account and once on my hotmail one. Ah technology--it makes life better most of the time, but can make for some embarrassing moments. I remember when a friend of mine wrote her baby announcement email before her baby was born (weird, I know!) to save so her husband could send it when the time actually came--and then accidentally sent it for real. Now, that was embarrassing because it required a followup "I'm-so-stupid-and-yes-I-prewrote-my baby-email" email.
It's funny how people from out of state think that Utah's hard to figure out--California is a beast! I finsd, though, that I still give directions like a Californian--which just doesn't work here!
can't wait to see the bedding.
very fun day.
All of the descriptions of packed freeways, ikea, crazy driving is bringing back so many funny memories of living there. I am especially jelous of Newport beach. That was always our favorite beach to go to. Have fun with Becca and Laurie. It has been years since I have seen them.
It is so weird to read about your days without pictures! Sounds like a great day and I too get irritated with Mya or Linc for this or that only to find that it was me who misplaced said item. Doh!
Can't wait to hear about your meeting with Becca and Laurie today!
It sounds like you are having fun! The 405 is the worst freeway for traffic in CA!! Glad you survived it! Have fun at the beach!
I have never been to IKEA, it sounds like a dangerous place. I can't wait to see your new bedding. I'm a little jealous.
I love that you are in "my" territory. I feel like I can visualize your trip. I am excited for you to meet Becca and Laurie (and again) a little jealous. I hvaen't seen Becca or the girls since December!
Blogger spell check is so ridiculous I prefer to risk the spelling mistakes.
It sounds like we should appreciate Claudia's posts more with her set up!
Hope you have another great day!
Jimmy and I got engaged at Newport Beach - just a little tidbit for you to think of me while you are away.
I love reading your updates! I hope you continue to have a blast! :)
Dana
New territories are always tricky, but glad you made it through the nasty traffic.
Have fun with Becca and Laurie. Going to a beach house sounds like heaven in my book and I was just there three months ago. You would have thought it was eternity.
Bummer about Whitney's suit! I too get irritated at my kids jump on them and then realize it was a dumb mistake that I did. Can't wait to see pictures!!
Sounds like your having fun.
I so love your descpription of CA traffic. I almost wet my pants thinking about that and have to admit of doing the same thing when we were there last summer.
sorry about your tech difficulties. sounds like you all are having a fabulous time. Again jealous of the ikea trip. Hope you got good stuff and enjoyed the no kids.
Good luck at disneyland.
Sounds like you're having a great time. I understand the love of Ikea and was thinking, "Only two hours?!"
I remember the fear on the roads when we were there 2 yrs ago. I actually drove to a mall by myself one day- with both kids. Can't believe I did it but the mall was really nice. Good shopping!
I hope you have fun with Laurie and Becca.
Can't wait to see the photos when you get home!
what? You ate crepes?! It does sound like a lot of branching out...
I'm with Robyn -- only two hours at IKEA? But with no kids, now that's a treat. I'm a little jealous, and very excited to see the new bedding you got. Isn't it cool that you don't have to figure out how to get your haul into suitcases? Just load it all into the trusty Escape...
Don't you just love that IKEA. How fun to get new bedding. Too bad about the suit and the sunburns. Have a great trip.
