Last night Randy had to paint the bones onto Whitney's black sweats to make her the skeleton costume she wants. He did this 3 years ago for Landon, but of course those sweats are too small for Whitney (and I don't know where they are) so he has to do it again. It's pretty cool though. He covers the white paint with a light glow-in-the-dark paint that adds a cool affect.
Last night Kristi, Tasha and I had a 3-way phone call so that Kristi could give Tasha and I a Scrapbook Factory Program tutorial. It's an aesthetically cheesy-looking program, but it's the miracle tool that allows Kristi to make all her wonderful creations. It's pretty user-friendly, but Tasha and I still needed help.
I've got a very busy week ahead of me so I'm trying to mentally plan things out so that I'm not hysterical at any point. Here's a look at what's in store for me.
Monday
Do school with Landon
Photo shoot of Amy H.'s son Alexander
Read as much of The Kite Runner as possible for Wednesday night's book club (I'm currently only on page 125).
Carve pumpkins as a family
Tuesday
Do school with Landon
Be at Whitney's school for the Halloween parade and class party from 9-12
Read frantically!
Take kids to my grandma's house to show her their costumes and meet up with 2nd cousins
Dinner and trick-or-treating in Salt Lake at Adam and Amy's house with all the family (minus Robyn, Jared and kids = major bummer)
Wednesday
Do school with Landon
Help with Whitney's field trip to see Aladdin, 9-12
Read frantically!
Photo shoot of Dunn family--5 kids
Book club! (Which means the book better be finished!)
Thursday
Do school with Landon
Do story time with Whitney's class 9:05-9:15
Clean my house and prepare to meet Lara & Katie
Friday
Exhale!!
Typing this up is actually making me feel better. I can do this right?

That is a serious list this week. I prepare much the same way- write it all out and deal with it one day at a time so as not to feel overwhelmed. I try not to think too much of what is going on the next day until the night before.
I am a crazy fast reader and it drives me crazy to share books with Linc because he is such a leisure reader and it takes him forever. I think I read 4 books in the time it takes him to read 1. I suppose he is a bit busier than me too...
I am way energized by being busy and sometimes wish I had more going on so I could have that energy. I usually will crash though after a busy week, so there is the trade off.
Good luck this week- it sounds like you have it all planned out to run smoothly :)
I'm jealous of the 3-way phone call with Kristi and Tasha -- that sounds so fun! Also way jealous that I can't use that software on my Mac. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
I wish I could say I was a crazy fast reader like Hannah, but that is not the case. Average, I guess. I started the book on Saturday night and I'm halfway through, I hope I don't end up frantic to finish.
Sometimes I feel energized by being busy, sometimes just overwhelmed, sometimes a little resentful. I wonder what makes the difference?
I am a fast reader if I need to be...need to catch up on so many blogs...
I think I like being busy because it does give you a sense of adrenaline although I don't mind taking in the time and savoring the moment of things.
Your list sounds really busy...but some of the things you are to do...sound like a lot of fun!
i of course love being busy and i think you know my secret why. yes some day i will post about it.
i loved talking last night and wish we would have called michelle just to add to the fun. i need to find her the mac version.
i love the photo collage you made of landon. you will go crazy now.
i love what randy is doing with the paint. oh the possiblities with him in my house... pure talent he is!
have a great week
I want those sweatpants!
I'm a crazy fast reader, and I want to read crazy fast in those sweatpants.
Awesome.
I'm totally jealous. I actually went to Costco to buy the program and got the wrong one. I have to call Kristi for my own tutorial. I'm totally remedial when it comes to this kind of stuff.
So- sad news. Katie had to go back to Boise. She was getting really sick and her husband came down this weekend to help my parents. She decided to head back with him early (I guess there is also a storm that is going to hit sometime later this week in Idaho). Sorry- I hope you won't be disappointed in just meeting me.
Okay- Kite Runner is one of the most powerful books I have read. It is so amazing. You want to finish it, so it isn't ruined. Are you reading it for your ward or friend book club. If it is for your ward- very interesting choice. we had a big blow up over it in our non-ward book club. There was concern over the graphic content.
Lara--that's so sad about Katie having to go home, but I understand.
We are definitely NOT reading The Kite Runner for our ward bookclub, that's a real book club choice only, and yes I'd say it's pretty graphic and disturbing so far.
I'm a fast reader if I love the book. If I don't like it I can't get through it. You have inspired me to write out my crazy week I have this week in the hopes of getting most of it accomplished
I made my lists last night. I ended up having multiple pages going. I wrote lists for the kids too - they should share my stress right?
It does sound like some fun things going on though... Call me if you have gaps.
I am jealous of the Scrapbook Factory tutorial. I have had that program for years and never done a thing with it. Maybe you should have a class for me?
Randy - how is it to have talent?
Serious list is right! I am "pre exhausted for you! Love that Randy is paining her sweats. Very creative!
My favorite part of the post was your cleaning picture. Do you really wear goggles when you clean?
Hope you have a good week and get to read lots. I am such a slow poke reader not sure that would fly with me.
Oh, and I too am jealous about your learning session because I just bought that scrapbook program this weekend for my x-mas cards! I am excited, but very intimidated at the same time. Guess that is why it is still sitting here unopened on my desk.
You are a goof ball, I love the link to the ..."clean house..", I was howling with laughter.
It is easier to be busy, I find that when I have nothing on my agenda, I become fat and lazy.
It sound as though you have mapped out your week so that things will all go smoothly, good luck and have fun.
**How do you prepare for crazy weeks? write it on my calendar on my fridge and stick to my daily schedule..im a routine nazi freak!
Are you a fast reader? when i want to be!
Are you energized by being busy
or do you resent it?** i LOVE to be busy -but at home busy!!!
That is one crazy list. I hope you get it all done.
I am very impressed with Randy's talent. I will have to remember that idea for a skeleton. Very cute.
I do enjoy being busy. The baby actually allowed me to get a lot done this morning. I am very pleased with myself!
Your list makes me feel a little paniky...that is a lot going on! I love to write lists, they make everything seem do-able, esp once you can start crossing off!!
I just have to say that I am so impressed with Randy, being able to draw and paint was a talent I always wanted to have!! So fun to have an artist in the family!
I am a very fast reader, which in some respects is nice because I can read more books (in theory), but its downside is that my reading comprehension is nil. A month after I finish a book, unless I REALLY REALLY REALLY liked it, I can't tell you much about it except maybe the general premise and the fact I liked or disliked it. Being a fast reader is a double edged sword my friend.
I prepare for busy weeks by napping on Sunday. :-) Lists are always helpful to get it out of your mind and organize it. Most of your week sounds kinda fun to me - reading, etc.
I just emailed Kristi about that program a few days ago. Maybe we should have an interactive session on it sometime.
That is so nice of Kristi to tutor you and Tasha! Looks like you are going to start whipping out some amazing creations!
Good luck with your book. I read super fast, when I've got time. I read that book, and it is still haunting me. I almost wish I hadn't read it. I did learn alot from it, but man, I just wish it weren't so disturbing in the details!!
Good luck completing your list of things this week!
That is quite the week. I'm impressed you have it all written down that's half the battle in my book.
I think it depends on what's going on to whether I feel energized or not. If it goes on for weeks like that and I don't get down time I get a bit crazy. I really need those slow days...even if it's doing laundry and cleaning. Being busy all the time frustrates me.
I am really looking forward to tomorrow night. :)
It was great to talk to you! I haven't had a three way call since 10th grade I'll bet! This was so much better than that one, because we werent' calling up some boy, pretending I wasn't on the phone, trying to see if he likes me or not, which invariably he does NOT since I am on the phone and mortified.
Yes, much better. When do you all want to do a smugmug intervention with me? Its not even a tutorial, an intervention is needed!
Good luck this week. I couldn't imagine being so busy. I don't mind being busy but only when I can choose when I want to be busy or not. If it's things that have to get done, I stress out.
