A Different Kind of Induction

When you hear the word induction do you automatically think of a baby being born? I do. Most likely because both my deliveries were inductions. This information is totally irrelevant except that induction #1 was for The Great Landini and this post is about him.

Last Friday evening we went back to the junior high (it's amazing how much time I spend there these days) for the Induction Ceremony for the National Junior Honor Society.

It's always thrilling to see one's name in print isn't it?

The majority of the members of the National Junior Honor Society at our school are girls, though I'm sure many boys are qualified to be in it they just didn't apply.

Woohoo it's official!

Tiny yet tasty pieces of cake were served, and even Whitney (aka The Treat Monger) thought the small piece was plenty.

Here is Landon showing Whitney his name on the honor roll.

This is a really big accomplishment for Landon and we are really proud of him. He is totally self-motivated with all his school work so this accomplishment is all his. He got a 4.0 last term and had perfect attendance as well...I know my 7th grade stats didn't look anything like his.

**What kind of inductions have you had?
Were you a self-motivated student?
Are you self-motivated now?**

Comment Tidbit: I'm ready to get in bed and read until I fall asleep...is that so wrong?

Hooray for The Great Landini!

Funny you should ask: I was always a very self-motivated student, yet I don't know that I'm all that self-motivated now...

I love that he is on the honor roll! Hooray!!!

hailey used to be an (almost) all A student & now has seizures every day at school. She went from mostly A's to mostly D's & now we are grateful for the D's & thankful they are not F's. It's crazy how life/expectations can change so fast.
I'm sorry- I don't mean to be negative.
It's just another thing to be grateful for.

I hope you did get in bed and read until you fell asleep. Such a nice way to drift off.

Way to go Landon. You have great kids Jill!

Congratulations to Landon! What fun to parent a motivated kid.

So did Landon apply for this? Blake has always had a 4.0 and I told him about it and he didn't know anything about it. He is always looking for more things to put on his college application.

If I had more self motivation, I would be a 125 lbs.

Landon is so cute and somehow I always forget that he is actually in junior high.

Congratulations to Landon! I am NOT self motivated now and wasn't really as student either. I'm glad that my children are much more focused than I was.

Congratulations Landon! (And he's probably getting to the age where it is a real advantage to be in the company of that many girls.)

What a GREAT accomplishment for him. Being self-motivated is so important in school, I think it makes all the difference. Sadly, that is one thing that adulthood seems to have robbed me of. I used to be self-motivated, but somewhere in the last few years it has slipped away from me. I miss it.

What. Great kid! I was induced into the national jr honor society too. I was a really self motivated up until lately now it seems that I am cultivating my talent in being less motivated, but not quite lazy....

Good sleep is always a blessing!

Congrats to Landon! He is fantastic!

I wasn't the self motivator as a student that I am now...

When I read your post title, the first thing I thought of was actually an honor society induction--perhaps because I had just read the celebratory Oreo shake post above. Having a self-motivated student is indeed a gift for a parent, and one I have learned not to take for granted.

Congratulations, Landon!
