The Return of Game Night

We weren't able to get together for weekly game nights in December (that month is just too crazy) and poor Whitney was distraught about it. She loves playing with "the cousins" and will usually start asking about game night on Wednesday evening.

We've gotten together for the past 3 weeks, so I think we're off to a good start for 2011. Thanks to Lori, we're into a new game called "Bang". We're always hoping to fall in love with a game the way we did back in 2004 when we were first introduced to "The Settlers of Catan", and though we've heard about other fun games it isn't always easy to teach ourselves how to play them.

This game wasn't too hard to learn and of course the more we play the more we learn. It's no surprise that Adam dominates most of the time, but there are enough variables involved that he can't out strategize us all the time.

It has made for some fun nights and has also meant that Landon can play with us because he's old enough to keep up and because it's more fun with more players. Good times.

**Have you played this game?
What's your favorite game to play?
Are you good at teaching yourself new games?**

Comment Window Tidbit: I finally took all the Christmas cards down today, and Randy took the outdoor lights and fence garlands down as well. I think this is a record for us, we're usually past Valentine's Day for these jobs.

Somehow knowing you're having game nights makes it seem like the world is back on its axis. I think it is so great you make this effort to stay connected and enjoy each other.

I love that your family has game nights. Some of my favorite times are playing games with my family. We never do it except on holidays or vacations.. but its a special treat!

I've never heard of this one.

I have played "Bang" and it's a blast. I'm jealous of your game nights...wish my family lived close enough to do it!

My dad was always opposed to games for some reason, and so we never played a lot of games, so it's almost like I don't even think of it now. It's always fun when we do. Avery particularly loves to play games, and so I need to organize that more for her. You guys look like you always have so much fun together at these game nights!

I want to learn that game! We played the SkipBo game at Bob & Mim's today. I am good at teaching myself new games, but don't do it often enough.

How did you get that cool aerial shot? It looks like it was taken by someone really tall!

I think it's great that Landon gets to join in. My boys love nothing more than playing games with the adults.

We got Bang! for Christmas from Molly but we haven't played it yet since our regular game companions moved... Sad.

I think my brother would dominate if we did this too!

I just took my Christmas cards down this afternoon. All my other decorations have been down for weeks but I just wasn't ready to put away the cards.
