Memorial Day Weekend 2015

I haven't even blogged about Junie having 4 kittens in March. It has been so much fun watching them grow from tiny, hamster-sized kittens into full fledged, crazy, playful, adorable kittens; that will have to be another post.

One of Whitney's friends from school had claimed a grey female from the litter, so sweet Belva Boo (that's what we'd been calling her) got picked up Memorial Day weekend. Whitney made a birth certificate for her and we put a bow around her neck (which she was none too keen on). I may or may not have cried when she left. The good thing is that Whitney's friend started an Instagram account for her so we get to see updates on her regularly and she's doing well.

As for normal Memorial Day activities...Sunday evening we drove out to the Herriman Cemetery with my mom and Lori to put flowers on the graves and pay our respects.

My mom's parents' grave.

My mom's sister Launa showed up with her husband, daughter, and grandson plus her 100 year old Aunt Berniece (who kept saying to us, "Do you know who I am?!").

The boy was looking fly as usual.

I handed my phone to Landon to take a group selfie of us and he surprised us by jumping up onto a bench and snapping this photo. It was so funny and resulted in this very unposed photo, which I love.

This happened.

I couldn't sleep that night and ended up starting many Trivia Crack Challenges with Lori, and named them after my plight.

Monday morning Randy and the kids finally got to work weeding all the flower beds (this is what I wanted for Mother's Day).

It ended up being a beautiful day.

We met up with my parents, Lori, and Adam's family at JCW's for lunch and then came back to our house to hang out and celebrate Tess' 13th birthday.

We sat outside enjoying the weather and chatting for hours.

Book club--January 2015 Edition

We always celebrate Jenn's birthday at our January book club because her birthday is on New Year's Eve.

She requested Magelby's for dinner, but they had a 40 minute wait when I called for take-out, so her 2nd choice was 5 Guys.

Amy's family spent 2 weeks in Costa Rica over Christmas and brought us all this amazing degreaser dish cleaner that works in cold water some passion fruit candy.

Jana told us of her crazy Christmas activities.

Michelle made her wonderful vanilla cream pie (as requested by Jenn).
(I forgot my camera so these are phone photos...not good.)

We gave her $100 Visa Gift Card.

We discussed The Gifts of Imperfection and plan to continue discussing it a chapter at a time this year because it's so good.

Jenn gave each of us a notebook, chocolates, tissues, thank you notes, and a cd of dance music along with really nice reasons for each of them (relating to our long-time friendship and the book).

Andrew's 27th

Andrew turned 27 on September 29th!

Andrew got to come home last weekend (he does every other weekend) and was so excited because his work helper made him this sweet Toy Story card (she drew it herself).

On Saturday a bunch of us gathered at JCW's for lunch (my dad always takes Andrew there when he's home for the weekend).

Lori went with Andrew and my parents to the Disney store and Instagrammed this super cute photo of them. It was rather momentous because Andrew got to choose a new Woody and Jessie doll (that's all he ever wants). This photo is significant because they're all sincerely smiling (no easy feat for the men in this picture).

I can't believe he's 27! I was 16 years old when my mom had him (she was 39).

Bookclub--June Edition

We didn't get together during May because Collette and Amy had both had surgeries, Michelle was in Paris and we were all crazy busy with the end of the school year.

Collette had this delightful bowl of cherries to keep us occupied while we waited for everyone to arrive.

We all brought our dinner (Kneaders for me and Michelle this time).

Michelle gave us these darling gift bags she bought at a flea market in Paris full of goodies.

Inside the bags were a notebook, a magnet, a huge Roche truffle and a roll of Washi tape.

Since we were also celebrating Jana's birthday (which was back in May) she had requested something CHOCOLATE for dessert. Michelle made a very rich, brownie pudding dessert with whipped cream which was scrumptious.

Collette showed us the book of Women's Conference talks she's in, very exciting!

We gave Jana a $100 gift card for IKEA.

I've totally slacked on making us take self-portraits so we did one this time, but sadly it was at the end of the night (11:30pm) so we were all weary.

Michelle's Birthday Outing

Last Friday (March 14th) was Michelle's 43rd birthday! Delightfully it fell on a Friday so no adjustments to our schedules were needed (except that Marc was on afternoon duty with Eva).

Our self-portrait for the day.

We had a very tasty lunch at Five Guys, it was fantastic.

We went to the $1.50 theater because it had better movies than the new release theaters. Michelle hadn't seen The Book Thief yet, so that was our first choice. We were loved it and were weepy messes at the end of it...it took us a little while to recover.

Next stop was to get drinks at Sodalicious.

Then we went to Cherry Lane to shop for a bit. It was a gorgeous day and the view from the front of the store was beautiful.

I really love this line of products.

This is our funny selfie taken in a mirror in the store. I was trying to hurry (I'm always afraid I'm going to get in trouble for taking pictures in stores for some reason) but think it turned out pretty funny. I put it on Instagram and Michelle said she thinks she looks like she has Special Needs, this cracked me up and made me like the picture even more (because of course she doesn't).

This sign was hanging the store.

Michelle bought a couple necklaces and a birthday gift for her mom.

I was so pleased with how my gifts for Michelle turned out this year.

I gave her a collection of Washi Tape I'd been purchasing from a couple Etsy shops and Pick Your Plum, a pedicure gift certificate, and a silly ring.

I got us each one of these rings because I couldn't resist it. I have mine sitting on a jewelry try in my bedroom and it makes me happy whenever I see it.
