7. I read in the car for 25 minutes while Whitney and Dallin ran into Walmart.

9. Celebrating Randy's 50th.
10. The tag I printed for his gift (another plaid shirt).
11. The drawing inside the card Whitney made.
12. I am rereading The Book of Mormon by the end of the year.

12 on the 12th--November Edition

6. It was College Day at the junior high so all the staff and teachers alma maters were displayed.
7. I ordered Landon's cap and gown for graduation...crazy!
8. It's always disconcerting to walk into the office and find Landon hanging out in his skivvies.
9. I've been devouring this series by Tana French.
10. I brought a Southwest BBQ Chicken Salad to book club for my dinner.
11. We drew names for our Christmas Book Exchange and I got Collette.

12 on the 12th--June Edition

1. My sleeping set up at my brother's house while house sitting.
2. Morning scripture reading on their deck.
3. I took Whitney, Megan and Tess to meet up with my mom, Lori, Austin, Olivia and Ashley for a fun day at Lagoon (especially fun since I wasn't going).
4. I introduced Peep the kitten to Lola the bulldog and it resulted in some super speedy tree climbing.
5. I ate my Corner Bakery take-out lunch while watching So You Think You Can Dance.
6. Since my mom was at Lagoon and my dad was working I got to pick Andrew up from "work".
7. I love taking selfies with him, they're always funny.
8. Landon came home safely from 5 days in Yellowstone with friends.
9. My dad came to my house to get Andrew.
10. My friend Jen wrote a book! My copy came in the mail today.
11. Bookclub dinner at PF Changs minus Amy and Michelle.
12. Jenn and I got shakes from Iceberg on the way home from bookclub.

Sunday Thoughts

I'm so excited to be studying The Book of Mormon this year. One of my BIG intentions for the year is to change the way I read the scriptures. I want to shift from my usual surface-style reading to more of a study-type, insightful way of reading...I'm just not sure how to do this.

I have been very inspired by the amazing scripture study style of The Red Headed Hostess and just bought myself one of her great scripture journals and some gel pens so I can do what she does. Even with all her great posts I'm still feeling slightly daunted and inadequate, but also highly motivated and excited to learn.

Today was week number two of attending Gospel Doctrine and other than the extreme heat in the room (seriously coma-inducing) I really enjoyed the class. Here are my notes...

• It is up to us to determine whether we think The Book of Mormon is true. So do what it takes to find out!
• 1 Nephi is a journal where Nephi records the things of God.
• Why is it important to keep a journal and what should we put in it?
• What do we write in our journals? We should write the things we do, think, say, and believe.
• We should include the things of God. (This made me so happy that I have hundreds of Sunday Thoughts posts recorded!)
• We do it to instruct and teach and to connect with our posterity.
• Lehi instructed Laman and Lemuel to be firm and steadfast, continually running into the fountain of all righteousness, we should be like this too.

• Laman and Lemuel's issues stemmed from being worldly, not knowing the things of God, not listening to the prophet, and murmuring continually which drives the Spirit away.
• What are we teaching our kids? Do they have faith? Do they know the things of the Lord?
• Nephi really believed his father had spoken to the Lord, he didn't think that was crazy.
• The Lord is more willing to give us further light and knowledge when we share the knowledge he has already given us (our beliefs/our testimony).
• The Lamanites were not the Nephites' problem, they were just a reminder to them to remember the Lord and trust in Him.
• Do we have the attitude of "however" or "therefore"?
• Do we value our scriptures? How important are they in our lives?
• We don't know why we have to do the things we've been asked to do, but we can move forward one step at a time in faith.

Comment Window Tidbit: Though I'm enjoying the new 11:30 church schedule I'm feeling like there's not enough time in my Sunday and that is the opposite of how Sundays usually feel to me. Uh oh.

Seven for Saturday--Does Anyone Read on the Weekend Edition?

Does anyone read blogs on the weekend or what? My comments always drop to like two and make me feel like my weekend posts are rubbish, so I'm doing a roll call. If you read my blog ever I need you to comment this time to let me know you're here. I'll send good mail to some random commenters if you do!

1. Whitney's art classes started up again on Wednesdays at 5:00, which is great because I didn't have anyplace I had shuttle her to that day so I was relieved we could fill that vacancy (heaven forbid I get to spend time at home after work). I am a seasoned pro at waiting that hour in my car, but I had to laugh at myself that I brought 4 books with me...that's a little ambitious don't you think? I actually ended up reviewing my Sunday School lesson, reading this week's RS lesson, and then read some of my novel until I got groggy. I wonder what the neighbors think when they peek out their windows and see me dozing in my car.

2. While at Landon's soccer game in Lehi this week we saw this strange sight. It looked like some sort of Divine communication was going on. My dad pointed out that it looked like it was in Eagle Mountain, but my mom clarified that it was actually Saratoga Springs. (They're always trying to sing Eagle Mountain's praises.)

3. We had Robyn's kids here one night and Landon made green waffles for our dinner.

Ashley helped.

4. I've got a banana graveyard happening on the top of my fridge! Ew! I think I've let the black ones go too long right?

5. Since my life has gotten so busy and since I'm not home to check my calendar I ended up creating a Google calendar that I can sync with my phone (how tech savvy is that?!). I'm hoping this will keep me from forgetting things or letting time get away from me too much.

6. Landon gave a Book of Mormon and a letter with his testimony in it to his friend Tony! Tony lives near us and sometimes goes to Scouts with the boys, but his family isn't active in the church. I thought it was incredibly sweet of Landon to do this (it was wrapped when he gave it to him) and Tony told Landon he'd read it!

7. In other news, I have given up my Sunday nap! It's a reluctant act of maturity on my part (I know, I know) but in an effort to stay on my 9-5:15 sleep schedule I am giving it up. Last Sunday was my first time and I did really well with it. I taught myself how to do Family History Indexing online and ended up doing 81 names! It's kind of cool actually and will probably become one of my nap-replacement activities. I am in mourning for my naps though because being in the cozy on a Sunday afternoon is one of my all-time favorite places to be!
