Book Club Birthday Lunch

For book club this month we ended up meeting for lunch at Pizzeria 712.

It was originally going to be a bonus gathering of sorts, but it ended up serving as a birthday lunch for Amy and I and our overdue discussion of The Midwife of Hope River (4 stars).

Michelle, Collette and I were the first to arrive and asked to be seated outside (surprising because of the heat, but it was in the shade and the restaurant was hot inside too, plus we thought we could be louder).

Oh sweet nectar.

The girls didn't have any trouble spotting us.

Five of us ordered the braised beef panini (delicious) but Jana ordered pizza.

Jenn brought us pineapple lip balm and macadamia nut kisses from her trip to Hawaii.

Collette gave Amy and I these darling journals with our initials on them, and the book club girls gave us $100 gift cards...Amy got a Visa gift card.

I got a TJ Maxx gift card, woohoo!

We had our waitress take a couple photos of us after lunch and she did a good job. It's always nice to get a photo of the whole group for a change.

I spent the rest of the afternoon having my longest phone appointment ever with Betsy! We hadn't had one since she visited last July (we always go to extremes like this). My family were all gone and her boys were out with their grandparents so we were free and easy...it was glorious and a most excellent birthday gift.

Lunch Sack Art Direction

I laughed when Randy showed me the lunch sack design he drew for Whitney this morning, but then really laughed when he told me she sketched the idea out for him first. He chuckled as he said, "She art directed me."

A Free Lunch

Very generous Melinda, recently sent me a card with this coupon for buy one get one burger at JCWs and $10! She knows Lori and I go to lunch weekly and that we often go to JCWs, and since she doesn't have that restaurant near her she gifted us with the coupon AND cash! So nice!


Lori and I have had trouble scheduling our lunches the past couple of weeks, so yesterday was the first chance we had to go. It was so worth the wait!


We both got Ranch Bacon Cheeseburgers (sinfully good) and shared onion rings since Lori gave up French Fries for Lent (not that we practice Lent, but she decided to give something up this year). I am an onion ring spazz and rarely end up actually eating the onion because part of it inevitably comes out of the fried goodness and ends up left on the tray. I have no skills.


We had a very enjoyable hour and 10 minute lunch and thanks to Melinda's coupon and cash it we left with 10 cents left over. Thanks Melinda!!!

Lovely Lunch with Lori

Here it is November already and Lori and I haven't been able to get back on-track with our weekly lunches, until yesterday.


We met at the new Kneaders in Highland (across the street from Lori's work) and found the place packed with people. We chatted in line while we waited, and still had plenty of time to have a leisurely lunch.


Lori got a turkey sandwich, and I got a tasty French Dip. We shared the Parmesan potato chips and the Napoleon. I was super happy to find out they have pebble ice!


We were in a hurry to leave and it was raining, but we still managed to take a self-portrait with the Kneaders sign in it...who's got skills?

Blue Balls & Lunch With Amie

I couldn't resist using that title, I just couldn't. Amie got me hooked on these blue dryer balls, and now I have to have them. They make the clothes dry faster and in less time than a regular load of clothes would take to dry. They're noisy when the dryer first starts, but get quieter as they warm up in the dryer. My first set recently broke (after 4.5 months of use) so today when Amie called me from Wal-Mart I asked her to get me some. I'm so giddy to have them again I may wrangle up some laundry to do.


Amie was out and about today so she called to see about bringing me lunch (um, yes please!) and ended up getting us super tasty steak-n-cheese sandwiches from The Italian Place. I was happy to provide the chips, ranch dip and ice water...nothing but the best.


Of course, I made us take a self-portrait (or 5) before she left, that process is always funny.
