12 on the 12th--February Edition

I was super sick for 5 days in February, including the 12th, so this is the do-over I did on February 26th. Both days were Fridays and Michelle and I had originally planned to go to the temple open house on the 12th so this was a pretty close representation of how the 12th would have been.

Spring Revelry

I took myself to Thanksgiving Point on Tuesday (after having lunch with Amie) for four hours of strolling in the Spring sunshine and taking over 600 photos! Taking photos of flowers is one of my favorite things to do so it was an excellent outing for me and I thoroughly enjoyed being alone so that I didn't have to worry about anyone being bugged by my frequent stops. I wandered around and soaked it all up, plus hardly anyone was there so it felt like I had the place to myself.

Which photo is your favorite?

4 More Days Until Spring Break

I'm baby stepping my way to Friday because that means Spring Break will be here! It doesn't matter how much I like my job, I need time at home to do a whole lot of nothing as needed.

And now for some miscellany...

My long-lost blogging friend Shannon sent me a nice card and this fancy tea towel. I have sent a couple good mail items recently and so appreciate the pick-me-ups that come my way.

Landon fell asleep on my bed one evening last week. I had just been in there hanging up laundry minutes earlier but he experienced some extreme relaxation and fell asleep.

I thought he may be faking it, but he wasn't.

We had our Scout banquet and Court of Honor last week and I managed to organize, purchase, label and arrange all the awards without incident...woohoo what a difference a year makes.

Randy and Landon have a 50 miler coming up this summer...no comment.

Our crocuses are in bloom!

The daffodils are getting ready to bloom and we have lots of tulip leaves showing up...ah spring!

Five for Friday

1. Amie and I hadn't gotten together in months, so last Friday before the family party at my parents' house I went over to her house to hang out for about 50 minutes. We did a speed round catch-up on life (which was way too short) but at least we were able to get together.

But then we were able to get together again on Saturday night (shocker) because Jimmy was out of town and both her kids had plans. Randy and I weren't doing anything so I drove out to her house (Eagle Mountain 2 days in a row!) and we hung out for 2.5 hours. She gave me a Christmas present of the world's softest pillow case (which she made), a darling dish and dangerous treats.

2. We've been enjoying spring weather all week!

So guess who's decided to make an appearance? These beauties opened up yesterday and you can see the purple of some crocus in the background...delightful!

3. Whitney made an elaborate scavenger hunt for us last Sunday while the rest of us were napping and of course ended it with this message (we knew it would end in treat mongering).

4. I used the Amazon gift card my parents gave me for Christmas to get a new shower curtain, rings and shower rod so our bathroom got a mini-makeover this week! It only ended up costing me $1.61.

The packaging on the curtain hooks was a bit bizarre though.

5. Our Relief Society activity this month was a traditional Passover service led by a retired BYU professor (who used to be my landlord back before I got married). It was interesting, but really not my kind of thing, plus church clothes and sitting on a hard chair for 2.5 hours on a Wednesday is just cruel.

Wordless Wednesday

Comment Window Tidbit: It's always a bit sad when soccer season ends, I wish it would last a couple weeks longer.

Bullet Point Blogging

  • Landon stayed home sick today. I think this is his 2nd sick day of the whole school year.
  • I was showing Whitney my 2 inch roots this morning when she recoiled in horror and said, "There's so much gray!!" Ouch.

  • Thankfully, I got my hair cut and colored today.
  • I have been working on an Etsy order and some good mail today and have been watching a different version of Pride & Prejudice through Netflix streaming today, and think it's funny that I experience the same disdain for Mr. Darcy, Mrs. Bennett, Lydia, Mary and Mr. Collins no matter what version I see! Even though I know how it ends, I'm still at the point (this is a 6 part series) of finding Mr. Darcy repugnant.
  • I wish I was as articulate as Elizabeth Bennett.
  • I'm going visiting teaching tomorrow, and wish it wasn't so late in the month.

  • Our daffodils bloomed this week.

**What did you do today?**

Six for Saturday

1. Look what bloomed this week! Oh hooray, I'm so excited for spring, and these little ones have been a very welcome sight.

2. I helped in Landon's class again this week, and was glad the odd girl from last week didn't give me any attitude. Instead she said, "I have something that will change your life." Then she said, "The future is a choice, you are controlled by your past." (There was more to it, but this is all I remember.) Then she said, "Think about this all week." Um, okay. I don't know if she made this up, read it somewhere or is dabbling in fortune telling, yikes.

3. I filled up one of my Cafe Rio cards and got a free meal. I hoard these cards and save the free meal for when money is tight. Whenever I'm paying for a meal there I get a $6 pork tostada, but whenever I get a free meal I get an $8.50 pork burrito. I love it that it turns into two meals for me and that I'm really getting the most out of my free meal card, woohoo.

3. As I sat and read in the car during Whitney's art lesson it started to rain. It was rather cool to be surrounded by windows, kicking back with a book in the rain.

4. Whitney finally got the hippo she sculpted over a few week's time in art class. She sculpted, then glazed it, then it spent time in a kiln, so it was quite a process.

I think it looks like Arthur of PBS fame, but she assures me it's a hippo.

4. I checked Whitney out of school 2 hours early yesterday so she could go to Bella's swim party at 2:00 (Bella has early-out on Fridays). She was beyond excited about this and had been looking forward to the party all week.

5. I picked Landon up from school at the regular time then we went to the movies to see "The Lightning Thief". We shared a ginormous popcorn (which we finished) and he even refilled it on our way out of the theater. We attempted a self-portrait despite the crazy sunny, snowy, windy weather that was going on (hence my comb-over look).

6. I did a Costco stock-up run this week and love feeling like our staples have been replenished. I ended up buying a 3 pound bag of pepperoni there (my first time) then divided it into 9 smaller baggies full so we'd have a supply in the freezer. I had no idea we'd end up with that much pepperoni (it seems like a ridiculous amount to have) but am rather pleased at the money we'll be saving over the next few months. Usually a small bag of pepperoni is about $4 and I got the huge bag for $9, crazy.

Whitney has taken a fancy to pepperoni sandwiches, we're a healthy bunch over here.

**How is your Saturday?
Where did all the commenters go?
What's blooming at your house?**

Comment Window Tidbit: We had gloriously beautiful, spring weather today so I washed the outsides of our windows, raked leaves out of our flower beds, and weeded a bit.
